Formula DRIFT RD1: Streets of Long Beach

There had been some worries of rain but it had held out and the weather was near perfect. The competition was very intense, the stands were packed, and the vendors came out in full force. There were some wrecks and the drivers drove hard, as it was the first round of the season. One of the biggest surprises was Vaughn Gittin Jr. not qualifying in the Top 32 because he had taken the number 1 spot at the Long Beach event last year. There were some amazing cars that came out for the Slammed Society Car Show. This being my first time at the Long Beach event I loved the atmosphere it had. It is in the middle of downtown Long Beach with people watching the event from their surrounding apartments. The event held the debut of some new cars for some of the drivers. Chris Forsberg, who had a Nissan 350z, now has a Nissan 370z and Fredric Aasbo, who had a Toyota Supra, now has a 2011 Scion TC. A lot of the cars have been swapped over to V-8’s. Justin Pawlak took the #1 position in his Falken Tire Ford Mustand, Matt Powers(who always seems to be a crowd favorite) took the #2 position in his Need For Speed/Nitto Tires S14 Nissan 240SX, the number #3 position went to Daijiro Yoshihara in his Discount Tire/Falken Tire S13 Nissan 240SX.
